Passive fireproofing in buildings is a requirement under the Building Code of Australia and is achieved by implementing a number of different solutions. Based on a number of factors such as the duration of fire resistance, aesthetic requirements etc. specific solutions are available for the different elements in a building.
Walls & Partitions
Both external and internal walls can be constructed using lightweight Hebel blocks. These blocks can be used to seal large openings in walls and to create special fire-proof chambers in buildings. They provide up to four hours fire resistance and can be rendered to provide an architectural finish.
Internal partition walls can be constructed using Hebel blocks or stud walls lined with fire rated boards. These boards come in a variety of sizes and can be used to create stud wall partitions. Fire rated boards provide up to four hours fire protection and can also have additional finishes put on them for architectural purposes.
